Building On a Solid Foundation
The Milwaukee Protestant Home was founded in 1884 when a group of sixteen women met to discuss how to help Elizabeth Thomas, who was destitute and facing old age. They decided to create a group home where Miss Thomas and others could live comfortably, with the security of knowing that their needs for health care, socialization and recreation would be met for the remainder of their days.
Over a century of care has been provided to hundreds of seniors who have chosen the Milwaukee Protestant Home as their home.
Eastcastle Place, as the Downer Avenue campus of Milwaukee Protestant Home was renamed, continues to be a cornerstone of caring – providing a place where seniors can chose to live independently or to reside in an assisted living apartment. In addition, seniors can feel secure that skilled care and a rehabilitation center for physical therapy are available on the same campus if needed.
None of this would have been possible if not for the generosity of the community. Throughout the history of Milwaukee Protestant Home, Eastcastle Place has always depended on contributions to maintain the level of excellence in care it provides for the seniors it serves.
