Eastcastle Place Hits COVID Vaccine Milestone
As thousands of Wisconsin residents wait anxiously for their COVID vaccinations, Jake Jacobson and his immediate neighbors simply went downstairs for theirs. Jacobson is a resident of Eastcastle Place senior living community on Milwaukee’s Eastside. On February 3rd, 300 vaccines were administered to independent living residents and staff during the community’s on-site vaccine clinic. Last month, healthcare residents and staff received their vaccinations as the community has worked diligently at combatting COVID-19.
Jacobson is grateful that Eastcastle Place’s leadership successfully navigated the challenging logistics to secure the vaccinations and the ease with which he has benefitted. “I didn’t have to walk or drive on the icy streets or sidewalks; today, I sauntered down our warm, lovely, carpeted hallway,” he said. Staff and the pharmacy partner representative helped him complete the necessary paperwork before administering the vaccine. “It maybe took all of 10 minutes. No long line, three tables socially distanced. They eased me through the basic questions, and I was on my way to the hot popcorn. It struck me how lucky I am.”
All residents and staff wishing to receive the vaccine have done so, with 450 doses administered totally over the course of two on-site clinics. Second doses will be given to today’s first-time recipients on March 3rd.
