Fear the Deer…A Guide to Milwaukee Bucks Basketball
Unless you’re living under a rock, you probably know that the Milwaukee Bucks basketball team is generating a whole lot of excitement around town these days! Maybe you love watching basketball or maybe you think that a double dribble involves babies…either way, we’ve got your guide to getting in on all the Bucks Buzz.
A big reason the Bucks are in the quest for the NBA championship goes to one man. And while there’s no “I” in team, there are two in Giannis Antetokounmpo also known as “The Greek Freak.”
A few fun facts about Giannis:
*He’s 24-years-old
*He stands a petite seven feet tall
*His name is pronounced Yawn-niss An-tea-toe-coon-po
*There have been Giannis sightings at Sweet Diner and we’re told he’s a really nice guy.
Giannis may be getting the bulk of the media attention but other Bucks players worth mentioning include Brook Lopez and Khris Middleton.
The city has embraced Bucks Fever by making the area around the Fiserv Forum THE place to be on game days and every day. Check out this story from On Milwaukee about The Deer District. The area has “rejuvenated an entire once-vacant, dreary block of the city” and transformed it into a go-to destination for food and fun. From Good City Brewing to Drink Wisconsibly pub, to Mecca Sports Bar and Grill, there’s no shortage of food and drink options, but there may be a shortage of seating so if you plan to go, especially on a game day…go early!
Fingers crossed that the Bucks will WIN the NBA championship but no matter what happens on the hardwood, the downtown fun won’t end. Once the final buzzer sounds and Giannis and his very tall teammates high five each other for the last time this year, there will still be plenty to do in the Deer District. Free fitness classes, movies under the moonlight and the Deer Garden will be up and running all summer. This article from Fox 6 Fiserv Forum is your guide to summer activities in and around this fun, new part of our city.
We can bring some Fear the Deer spirit here to Eastcastle Place. Why should school kids have all the fun? We can all wear Bucks shirts on game days. Don’t have a Bucks shirt? Any green shirt or Milwaukee sports shirt will do. And Bucks spirit doesn’t have to stop there…invite a few neighbors to meet for an informal watch party and cheer on our local team! Finally, for the next couple weeks, when you pass staff and neighbors in the fitness center, hallways and dining room, greet them with an enthusiastic “Fear the Deer!” or “Go Bucks!”
